Out & About

With so much going on in Harbor Point, the beating heart of the revamped South End, it’s easy to see how it’s living up to its “Live, Work, Play” motto. It isn’t an exaggeration, either. Young professionals have flocked to live in the area’s new apartments; careers are in the offing at high-rise businesses; brick-and-mortars continue setting up shop. After hours, there is plenty to do, too. With the promise of spring just around the corner, here is a checklist of places and events to check out and why.

EAT + DRINK

Asian Bistro
Sushi is what you want here—and you will love it.

Bareburger
Stamford’s seaside organic and all-natural destination, with drinks and shares…lots of them.

Boothbay Lobster Co.
Traditional food served in a “rustic” ambiance…and the seafood is all from Maine and well-prepared.

The Brunch Box
The popular food truck continues to score, whether it’s the coffee, the TBB (try it), the pierogies or the burgers.

Corbo’s Southside Deli
Fast eats, from breakfast (the Sexy Back) to specialty sandwiches (try the Roadie), show just how well this local place offers tasty tuck.

Dinosaur Bar-B-Que
Good beer and Southern barbecue! You can’t miss this place. A great spot for birthdays, too.

Fortina
This is the locale for pasta, pizza and drinks. The Pizza Surf Club, in fact, is the spot in warm weather for harbor views and mingling while enjoying the outdoors.

Half Full Brewery
Tastings, pub runs, Pints & Paint Nights, and much more.

Harlan Social
A sleek and sophisticated setting, with oysters and deals on tap beers and cocktails, mean Happy Hour here is jumping.

Le Pain Quotidien
Whether you want cappuccino, oatmeal, soup, or something heartier—their tartines are killer—this Belgian import will give you what you desire.

Ponus Yacht Club
Dock—then dine—and enjoy. You can also head up to the bar, anytime after 11 a.m., as it is open “every day of the year.”

Prime
Elegant, delicious and very popular, with a stellar menu that balances the traditional with the modern.

Sign of the Whale
Its huge rooftop area, the biggest in town, means you can indulge in open vistas of the Sound and try an array of fantastic drinks.

World of Beer
Just about every malted beverage here is available (more than 500 in total), including local brews, to refresh the daily Happy Hour.
