Great Escape

Thinking of a little getaway—say, a waterside stay in Singapore or a villa in France? Fairfielders Marybeth McGee (also an editorial advisor for this magazine) and Susan DeMaio understand. They are cofounders of Wanderluxe, a new Fairfield-based travel group that makes arrangements for luxe destinations around the world.

Obsessed with sourcing life-changing destinations, Marybeth and Susan spend their workdays scouting out hideaways, eateries, party scenes and more to plan trips for others.

“This all started when we took a family trip to Italy last year,” says Marybeth. “We used a travel agent, and I told my husband I could do a much better job of planning trips and experiences for people. My background in event planning helps, because it’s about creating an experience or memory.”

She approached Susan, who has twenty years of experience in the travel business—and Wanderluxe came into view.

Wanderluxe, an independent contractor of Travel Exchange/Virtuoso Network, can book any travel plan but specializes in family trips and girlfriend’s getaways. “We have done London, Puerto Rico, Thailand, Spain, Israel, Japan and Morocco, to name a few,” Beth says. “We find custom experiences to make the clients’ trip special. We pay special attention to details and customer service.” They’ve planned a ladies-only trip to Puerto Rico for January. wanderluxetravelgroup.com
